how to negotiate wite landlord

i own a restaurant but the reat is higher then other shopping center i would like to write a litter to landlard to reduce or stop raisethe rent beacese sale far off and the maintenance fee to high it's half the rent (it totally diffrence than manager compamy told us ) i really cann't offer it how should i talk with my landlard ? he's in new york state .a friend told me landlard won't get the mail .is it ture? lanalard have many shopping center nationalwide.

Yes, by all means, write the letter requesting a rent reduction.

You might offer to extend the lease six months, if the reduction is granted.

It isn't illegal to ask a polite question, go for it!

You could start with a phone call, just to see if the landlord will entertain your request.
