My friend has been incarcerated for the last 30 years in various federal penitentiaries. Currently, he is in Florence, Colorado. He has served 30 years for a 15 year sentence for bank robbery. All of his court and legal documents were lost in his transfers. How does he go about replacing them? Also, he would like to have his sentence reduced. He is 60-years-old and in poor health. He is Mexican American and Yaqui Indian. He currently is in super max/adx and confined to his cell 24-hours a day. An official told him that his security rating was wrongfully assigned but it can't be reduced but he has already been assigned at they level. I would appreciate any advice offered. Thank You for you time and interest. Respectfully -- Lakotahills

You are telling us, he has been in prison some 15 years longer than the original sentence? That can't be right.

Who lost the records? What records? Actual court papers or do you mean prison papers?

You can look up the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure, there may be something there.
