All crimes have a statute of limitations.
The time required to charge depends on many things.
Even that SOL isn't clear if the person(s) involved flee the jurisdiction to seek refuge elsewhere.
I suggest you speak with an Ohio licensed lawyer for a definitive answer, don't operate on what you learn over the internet.

Let's say you're charged with Carrying a Concealed Weapon or Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

In Ohio, not ALL felony convictions would bar a person from possessing a firearm.

It can be longer than you would like in order to feel assured that a potential issue has gone away. Remember that a prosecutor may wish further investigation to ensure that it is worthwhile to bring charges or even to determine whether charges are even warranted. That may turn out in your favor.
