I have recently bought my way into a small corporation that has 5,000 shares. The owner let a lawyer originally set it up and the owner (my business partner) is completely unsure on how to redistribute the shares to give me 1/2 of the shares that the directors & officers own. I contacted the original lawyer but he wants $500 an hour for his services and wont even speak with us without getting money up front. I am hoping that we can redistribute the shares ourselves. What do we have to do? We also have contacted 7 local business/corporation lawyers and left messages about hiring them to do this and not one has called us back,we feel stuck... thanks for any assistance. =)

You need your own lawyer.

A lawyer representing someone else does not mean you're being protected.

You've spent $50K already.

If you ever want to see that $50K (or a portion thereof), engage your own lawyer. It may already be too late. But, at least speak to an attorney.
