How Can I Get Help Filling Out A Change of Custody Motion?

(Is it called a motion?) I live in NC and my two girls ages 12 and 6 are living in a horrible situation with their mother and I am going in to modify custody on my own since we have to go to mediation before court anyways and having to pay a lawyer for mediation and to go to court is just too much. (NC law) I have a long list of things that she has done as well as times that she has violated the custody agreement that I need to put in the modification of custody paperwork "reasons" section but I need help in writing them in a professional manner so that it doesn't look as if I am just trying to bash her. We do not have a help center in our court houses or any kind of self help website, etc. Can anyone help? I can send the list that I have to you.

Have you called legal aid to see if you qualify for help or the state bar?

Legal aid in this area does not help with family law matters unless it involves a restraining order or some type of violence.

Hi,
Things may be different now but in 2005 in Gaston county I filed a contempt order myself against my ex husband for not letting me see my son for my visitation and neither of us had an attorney when we got to court and the judge didn't want to hear anything either one of us had to say. The only thing that happend was that she found out we were both living in Lincoln County presently and she transfered the case there. But that was it she absolutely didn't want to hear anything we had to say period.

I don't know if this helps in your situation but just speaking from experience.
