House insurance to be cancelled?

I have a beach house that i have been remodling for years now. In the back of the house there is a 'door' with no stairs... or railing. Behind that door is a wall, living room wall. My insurance company, after 10 years say they will cancel my policy because of this. Can they do this? There is no access thru this door to come in the house or out of the house. Thank you.

If your home is not in compliance with any of the insurers' recommendations and those stipulations are clearly stated in your contract, then, yes they can.
