My son, at age 18 bought a car and drove it without licence, insurance or registration. He was not living with me. He let a friend drive who was under 18 who had a licence. They were both in the car when the driver crashed into a parked vehicle. As far as I know there was a police report, the boys denied involvement initially, then owned up.
The owner of the vehicle they hit is sueing my son in small claims court for a fairly small sum. My son is unemployed and transient. What will happen to my son? Why doesnt the owner of the vehicle just have his insurance cover it since he knows the kids did not have insurance. Nobody was hurt, both vehicles were damaged totally, but were not worth very much.
