HELP! found out baby was not his

My boyfriend believed he was going to have a child with a woman he was not married to. He wanted the child to have his last name and he does. When the child was 6 months old we took a dna test and the child is not his. She has known for a year that the child is not his and the bio father is in the babys life but still has my boyfriends last name for the baby. Is there anything we can do so she can change it?

Did he legally establish any paternity for the baby? What sort of DNA test did he take?

If he signed the acknowledgement of paternity for this baby, he must legally dispute paternity ASAP in order to free him from any future legal responsibility for the child.

If he never legally established paternity (didn't sign any of the paperwork) then he is probably ok, provoding the DNA test he took was accurate and not one of those at home ones.
