About 2 months ago I bought a boat for 950 dollars.
The guy brought the boat to me , then informed me that the title was up north . He would get it in a few days and get it to me . He gave me 100 of the 950 back to keep as insurance . Well 2 weeks go by and still no title. After several phone mess. , he finally called me back. He said he had sent it in the mail the day before. Two more weeks go by and no title. After several more mess. , he calls me back . I asked if i could get a bill of sale to transfer tiltle ( I know I should have gotten one at the beginning). I now realize that its not in his name. He said he could get a bill of sale for me. Another week goes by and no word from seller. Serveral phone mess later............ He says hasnt been able to contact title holder. I cant get the boat registered w/o the tilte or a bill of sale . What are my options at this point?
