Okay here is the situation This is a guardianship issue. I was asked to take guardianship of an 8 year old girl. She lives in South Carolina and I in California. The girls current situation is she is in temp custody with her step mom through the courts for a year period. The father of he little girl currently cannot have custody because of ongoing legal issues and is seperating from the step mom(divorce)The biological mother has no legal rights to the girl and that was established here in Ca through the courts giving all legal rights to the father several years ago. The biological mother lost all legal rights to child. What do I need to take guardianship until the father can come get her. the stepmom and the girls father have agreed the best place for her is with me for the time being. But it is not concrete on a time period. I know longer than 6 months until whenever he gets back on his feet. I need to enroll her in school and have medical permission????????? does the stepmom need to just get a notorized statement giving me the legal right to do those things since she has temporary custody. The child also receives SSI check. What do I need to do????
