I am legal guardian for my granddaughter. She has attended the catholic school in the next town since pre-K. She is graduating from the eighth grade. She has been staying with her great-graqndmother in that town so that she could attend the high school with her classmates. I was told by the school department that because I am her guardian she has to live with me. Is this true? Also the schools in my town are horrible and I will not send her to school in my town. Could she live with her biological father and I keep being her guardian so that I can still be involved with the school. Her father would be unable to take time off to attend meetings and such and I can.
Thank you for any assistance

Assuming that her father does not have legal custody, if the school bases their residency on who has legal custody, then they will not accept her father's residence any more than her great grandmother's.

Some school districts base residency on where the child lives. It seems that the school districts in your area do not.
