grandson custody

hi,
i need some advice.
my daughter had a son out of wedlock , after my grandson was born, he and my daughter have lived with us. the father comes around just about every day to see my daughter. he dosent put in any time with his son and the son doesnt like him very much. my daughter has a serious diaease . if something happened to her what would we have to do to get custody of my grandson:

I am by no means a lawyer, but wanted to offer you my thoughts.

Does your Daughter have sole custody, established by the Court? Does your Daughter have a Will? How old is your Grandson? If your Daughter is impaired, and since she's living with you, do you have Legal, Court Approved, Guardianship of your Grandson?

I believe these are all things that can be addressed and done by you and your Daughter with minimal expense, with standard forms from the Court. However, it would make responsible sense to consult a Family Law Atny.

If she is receiving aide from the County/State, both of you should speak to the Caseworker together, as there may be free or reduced rate legal help for you.

How can you honestly say the son doesnt like his dad? Stop going there right now. Your daughter should file for child support if she wants help. Was paternity established? Dad is more likely to get custody over a grandparent.
