My grandmother died a few years ago and left her home and land worth $550K to her only 3 granddaughters to share. In the beginning we split the bills and taxes 3 ways but then our oldest sister stopped paying her 3rd. empty promises to pay for months, then emails stopped. Now she owes over $5K, hasn't contacted either of us in over a year. My younger sister and I can't afford to buy her third but she shouldn't be on the mortgage anymore anyway... how do we get her removed from the mortgage since she has, in all senses of the word, abandoned the property. Note: the house sits empty unless my younger sister or i visit.

Nothing you can do to force her to pay.

She probably knows that.
You can hire a lawyer, request the court to partition the land, meaning sell it, divide the profits, if there any.

Otherwise the two of you must pay, or risk losing the property.

This is why it's a bad idea to title property in more than one person's name.
