Are there any specific laws on the books in any state associating giving the middle finger or any gesture to somebody with disorderly conduct. I gave a guy that I don't like the finger while driving. This man proceeded to file a police complaint. The officer I talked to told me that it can be construde in many ways. He said it is fine to salute a friend or someone you know, but not ok for someone who doesn't like you. I think this is bunk and am sticking to my feedom of expression. What do you think?:

It doesn't matter about other states ... what state are YOU in?

I HAVE heard of rude or obscene gestures being considered unlawful in certain circumstances, so it is possible that this was criminal.

For instance in my state flipping someone the bird MIGHT be construed as a challenge to fight (a disturbance of the peace) ... slim, but possible in the right situation. In general it is not going to be cause for a criminal complaint here. But, your state might have a different interpretation of the situation.

What, if anything, does this have to do with your other threads?
