A week ago at 5:33am I was driving myself, a co-worker, and her boyfriend home when I got pulled over for a broken tail light. The cop walked back to his car to write me a ticket for the tail light and for driving with a provisional license after midnight. There was another cop standing by my back right window which was open where my friends boyfriend was sitting. He was trying to tell me what to say to the cop without realizing there was a cop right next to him. The cop then asked him a question and he responded rudely. The cop pulled him out of the car and arrested him for underage drinking. They then pulled his girlfriend out of the car and questioned her. They found a fake id and arrested her for it and underage drinking. Both of my passengers were intoxicated. The cop then pulled me out of the car and asked me if i had been drinking. I was honest and said i had one beer a few hours ago. He then made me do a sobriety test. I personally thought I passed all the tests. The cop then made me sit on the curb. He asked me whether I had anyone that could come pick me up from where I was and I tried but nobody could come pick me up. So they arrested me. All three of us were taken in. After both my passengers information was taken and they had their charges the cops escorted them home. I however was held for more sobriety tests. The cop asked me a bunch of questions."Have you ever been arrested before?" No. "Do you have any points on your license?" No. "How much do you weigh?" 98 pounds. "When was the last time you ate?" at work on Friday night which was two days ago. "How much did you have to drink?" one beer. "When?" 1am. When they did a breathalyzer I blew a 0.04, the cop himself wasn't surprised that it was so high because of my weight.

What do I do from here?
What is going to happen to me?
Am I definitely going to lose my license?
If yes, for how long?
Is there a permit or something that allows you to drive with a suspended license for work and school?

What state are you in, and what statute have you been charged under?

These answers will help with responses to your questions.

What code section (numbers) have you been charged with?

Those should be on your charging or booking documents.

In any event, this is from the NJ Attorney General's web site:

Consequences of Underage Drinking and Driving

In New Jersey, you must be 21 to purchase, possess or consume alcoholic beverages. Underage drinking is illegal and can have severe consequences for young people who drink and for adults who provide alcoholic beverages to those under 21.

If you are under 21 and you buy or drink alcohol in a place with an alcohol beverage license, you may be fined $500 and lose your license for 6 months. If you do not have your driver's license, the suspension starts when you are first eligible to receive a license. Also you may be required to participate in an alcohol education or treatment program.

If you are under 21 and drive with any detectable amount of alcohol in your system (.01 BAC or above), you will be subjected to the following penalties:

- Loss or postponement of driving privileges for 30 to 90 days
- 15 to 30 days of community service
- Participation in a program of alcohol education and highway safety
