favoritism w/scheuling

Two people would have only one closing shift, openings and mids; the other three people would get the closing and mids and rarely an opening.

I understand all about it being retail, but I don't feel it is right. :(
 
Whether it is "right" or not is irrelevant. What matters is whether or not it is legal. And unless the more favorable shifts are being assigned on the basis of race, religion, national origin or another characteristic protected by law, it is legal. Favoritism is not illegal, with that one caveat, and the employer may assign whom they like to whichever shifts they like.
 
It is perfectly legal. If you don't like it then you can find another job. really that is your only solution.
