My daughters father is in prison & he is a violent offender. He is currently serving a 10/5 year sentence for armed robbery. His pass charges include battery & domestic Battery. I have sole custody of my daughter but his name is on the birth certificate. I am wanting to have that removed and all of his rights revoked. How hard is this? I live in Indiana and someone told me that since he is in prison it wouldn't be very hard. But I am on a single income and there really isn't a lot of extra money to toss around. However if the possiblity is good, then every penny spent would be well worth it! Any advise is welcome!

Thanks!

Most of the time if you are not remarried and there is no subsequent adption, a termination of rights usually cannot be done. However, if he is in prison with no possibility of gettng out in the next few years, small possibility you might be able to have it done. You really need an attorney. You can call around to see if anyone will take the case on pro bono.
