Personal Bankruptcy exempt property

My wife passed away last December. She had a $10,000 life insurance policy with me as the beneficiary. I am having to declare bankruptcy due to medical bill and lose of her part of our household income. Under federal exemptions, is the 10,000 exempt asset?
