Ex is after revenge

I just recently ended an unhealthy, controlling relationship. I was the one being controlled and one day I decided enough is enough. As I was leaving our shared residence, my ex told me that he would "make my life hell". I was the only one present so no one else heard the threat. At the time, I figured he was just angry and didn't really think much of the threat. Within an hour of me leaving, he had already started a discussion about me on a public forum. He made all kids of false accusations about me and made sure to constantly keep the gossip going. I never responded and had them all removed but made copies of everything before doing so. Finally, he saw that he was getting no reaction of me and did the lowest thing he could possibly do. He submitted a video and a picture of me to an online pornography site without my consent. I had no idea this had been done until someone I know told me they had come across this online. I am traumatized over this and am on the fence about pressing charges. Of course I had them removed from the site, but the emotional damage has been done. I am even getting professional help because of all of this. I have copies of everything he has done and said about me online. What legal steps should I fist take should I choose to press charges against him?

Unfortunately, no one but you cares about what this buffoon and bully has done to hurt you.

There is nothing that you can do that you can afford.

Just keep ignoring him, and don't let anyone else take videos that present you in a negative light.

Assuming he was legally in posession of the video and photos and you had consented to them at the time they were made, he has done nothing that will get him into any trouble.
Trying to take legal action will go nowhere and will just undo your previous attempts to ignore him.
If he somehow obtained the video without your consent then you might possibly have an angle to work from, but it would be expensive and the outcome would likely not resolve anything for you.

I failed to mention that it wasn't just a porn site it was actually an adult social networking site. He created a profile in my name using these images. Other users thought they were chatting with me. I have done some research online and came across similar cases. Ex lovers had created fake profiles of their ex girlfriends and the articles said this was identity theft. Yes my name was used and displayed on publically on this account that I had no knowledge if.

It is more a false impersonation than identity theft, but regardless, I highly doubt you could ever prove who actually did it. You suspect the ex for obvious reasons, but proof will be hard to come by short of a confession. The law on this sort of thing varies by state.
You can contact the website owner and request the offending material be removed.

I've taken necessary steps to have it removed and it has been. Unfortunately there is nothing I can do because it is considered joint marital property. Lesson learned.

I also question ownership of the video and picture. It appears you posed for them willingly and they are his property.
