Hello- I am helping a girlfriend who thinks her fight is hopeless, I don't think it is.
My girlfriend found out two weeks after getting married her husband was having an affair. She agreed to a divorce and let him keep all thier property. In the divorce she signed a quick claim deed and the divorce agreement called for him to be solely responsible for the payments on thier mortgages.
He forclosed on the home. The foreclosure is now on her credit and the second mortgage is in default on her credit as well. She didn't find out this was on her credit until she tried to purchase a new car.
She texted her ex asking what was going on. He had no response. She texted "I hope you are happy with yourself." His response was "I am, I bought a bar and a new truck."
I am positive she has grounds for a lawsuit. By the texts he obviously has assets and he did not hold up his contract with her to pay his bills, destroying her credit.
Any thoughts on this?
