My father was born and raised in the US, as have I. However, my mother is a Canadian Citizen and resided there for 10 years. I was wondering whether or not I qualify for having a US/Canada dual citizenship? Also, I am already 18 years old (August 13,1986), however, I am a full time student and I am completely dependant upon my parents. My mother has lived in the United States for the past 20 years or so but she still holds a Canadian citizenship, she has a greencard and alien resident card.
Thanks a bunch.

Were you born in the U.S.? Then you are automatically an U.S. citizen.

Since your mother is a Canadian citizen and you were born after 2/14/1977 you also are automatically a Canadian citizen.

Was your mother born in Canada? If not, there might be some steps you have to undertake to retain your Canadian citizenship. More info here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizen/bornout-info.html
