dog injury

in our grooming shop in florida, a customer claims his dog was injured while we were bathing it that was 6 months ago, does he have recourse? the dog in question had history of overweight also leg problems. The animals owner sent a regestered letter stating he wanted our ins co name so he could settle with them,but since we have let insurance lapse, d I have to bring vet in to verify dogs condtion? The owner wants to send me a bill Thanks captray

The owner can say what he wants but did your company injure your dog? If not, then perhaps you should tell him that it isn't true and if he feels that way he should think about court. It would seem that your insurance company would be liable for acts committed during the period which you had insurance so you might be covered. Personally, I think you should do the right thing, whatever that may be including denial if you didn't injure the customer's dog.
