I apologize if this question has already been answered in the rules/terms section , but I didn't notice it . Anyways my question is does this forum deal with hypothetical legal questions ?

I'd like to ask a hypothetical legal question , so I'd like to know if that's allowed .

Thanks ahead of time .

Very few legal forums will discuss hypotheticals. I'd suggest you do your own research/homework.

We generally ignore hypotheticals because we are too busy trying to help people who are in trouble and need help now.

Hypotheticals are all too often asked by trolls whose goals are to provoke long arguments on the subject or by students looking for help with homework.

You can google any topic and come up with countless discussions about the topic that'll answer any hypothetical question you might have.

Thank you for asking before posting.

I'm in an intellectual mood this evening.
Go ahead, mate, ask me your hypothetical.

The reason many law forums are reluctant to discuss a hypothetical, besides the ones listed above, is that details matter, and in a hypothetical the details are not necessarily stable. Not to mention that unless the details are identical, what happens with a hypothetical situation may not translate into real life.

Well I was wondering about the legal ramifications of taking a loan from a drug dealer . This is an honest question by the way , cause I don't know of any laws that penalize people for simply taking loans from disreputable lenders .

Nothing prevents one person, regardless of profession, from loaning money to another person.

I'm sure a drug dealer has loaned someone money.

Having represented several drug dealers in the past, I doubt many would be so generous as to loan money to anyone.

The law has no provisions against private party loans.

Even a drug dealer needs a return on his money and lending is a good way to do it, especially since he would already have collection agents who wouldn't pay any attention to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. ;)

The people standing on street corners aren't drug dealers.
Those people are street peddlers.
Drug dealers are rarely known to drug abusers, or the general public.
Yet, the misnomer is rampant, and anyone peddling drugs is labelled a drug dealer.
You'd be surprised at who drug dealers are.
I certainly was.

Drug dealers can finance escape schemes and get out of prison.
Drug dealers are alleged to have met actors on a remote mountain top to discuss movie deals. LOL

Could someone get in trouble for using a loan from a drug dealer to set up a sportsbooks by the way ?

Anyway thanks army judge .

If someone were alleged to be laundering dirty money derived from unsavory sources, you doggone betcha someone could get into deep trouble.

The nexus of such trouble wouldn't be the money, per se, rather the source from which the funds derived.

However, such crimes are difficult to prosecute, but the government is very good at tracking money. Why? The government ALWAYS wants a cut.
