Is it legal to marry the same person twice (NV and CA, respectively) without first a divorce? If so, is it considered a misdemeanor or something else? Is there a statute of limitation? This was done over 20 years ago.
Thanks,
A.

Not quite sure what you mean. A lot of people renew their vows after some period of time. When it looked as if my husband's children would not be able to attend our wedding, we considered having a second, private ceremony ten days later in the part of the state where they lived. Are you talking about something like that, or something else? If something else, please clarify.

Let's assume that what you are talking about is 100% illegal.

Now...you couldn't find a prosecutor in the Western Hemisphere that would be interested in this case.

Rest easy....

We did not renew our vowels per say, we secretely married in NV and then had our families and friends for a second wedding in CA. Although we were already legally married in NV, the church ceremony in CA was also registered. The 2 marriages ended up being recorded in 2 different states.

The first would be the "real" legal date of your marriage. States recognize each other's marriages so the second one would be shall we say "null and void" for a lack of a better word. Don't know if it's illegal but using the second date on legal documents might be. So, for legal matters requiring documentation of your marraige I hope you used only the first one in NV or were at least consistent and only used one of the licenses...look real bad if alternated between licenses. But like Seniorjudge said, no one would probably be interested in prosecuting this case.
