Divorce when one person lives outside the country

I have been married for almost 3 1/2 years I have 2 children ages 3 and 2. My husband lives in Mexico and is a mexican citizen he was here illegally when we got married but is now living in Mexico. My two children live with me and my husband isn't trying to fight me for custoy or anything. I just wanted to know how to file the paperwork with him in a different country and what my options are. Can I just file the paperwork myself ?

You will have to have him served by publication.

You can file yourself if you know how to handle this kind of lawsuit.
