Hello, my wife signed permanent guardianship over to her mom under the impression that she will be able to get him back after she finished Bootcamp. After two years in the Navy she was discharged due to medical purposes (stress fractures in the leg) and has been talking to her ever since to get him back. We have only been married since January and have our newborn baby but cant fully be a family until we have Kieran. Any help is greatly appreciated. The state is Colorado county el paso colorado springs area. We also live in Phoenix. Any more info needed glad to provide also what type of lawyer should we contact or is one needed. Thank you for your time.

Permanent guardianship? I'm not familiar with it but it could be difficult to undo if Mom doesn't want to let go. What is Mom's attitude about letting the child come back? If she doesn't mind then you can tear up the papers, file a return of custody agreement where-ever the guardianship papers were filed and it is over. If Mom fights, you will need an attorney.
