I work for a private company that mandates participating in a personal growth program that involves one-on-one coachings regarding your personal life. They feel it relates to working relationships. These coachings result in very emotional and intense sessions but are required as part of the job and a requirement to be considered for leadership within the company. I have been in the program for over 5 years and most recently was encouraged to work on a very personal issue that my coaches considered important or I would be a "failure" in my career. I started working on this personal issue which resulted in a couple of emotional breakdowns, or what they would consider, "breakthroughs". Yesterday, I was told that my department was getting pay increases but I was not because of the way I handle hard situations emotionally. My boss was referring to the coaching that I receive that is mandatory for me to get ahead - but now they are using it against me. Is this legal?
