direct deposit

I work for the City of Talladega in Alabama.Can my employer force me toget direct deposit if I don't want it?

Alabama - private employers may require DD but public employers may not per attorney general's opinion letter (no actual statute).

So the answer is yes per A.G.

Betty - that does not match what I'm finding, though I'm not sure how up to date my sources are. Do you have a link to that letter?

My info is from a loose leaf binder I have with DD info (& some other employment info) all 50 states (1-2013).
I did find this on a google search -
Alabama – no statute, based on Attorney General's opinion letter –
Private employers may require direct deposit, but public sector employers may not. (It's from 2012 & in a word document that I can't post link to.)
What do you have? (I don't have/can't find the actual letter.)

I keep finding that Alabama has nothing specifically addressing direct deposit. Maybe they don't count the opinion letter?

(mandatory legal as long as employee can choose financial institution which is usually the case)
