Hi, first off let me start off by telling you i live in ohio. Recently my sons father has decided that he is willing to sign off of our sons birth certificate. i think it is mostly a money issue, actually i know it is. he is tired of paying the weekly support of 45 dollars. I already have sole custody of him and have had sole custody of him for 6 years. He is entitled to every other weekend visitation and a couple days weekly and biweekly that he has never used. At this time he sometimes uses his every other weekend visitation but its usually from sat afternoon to sunday afternoon, so not the whole weekend.
I am ok with his decision to sign off. I have told him that i would still let his mom (my sons grandma) see him.
I am married and have a child with my current husband and we are a very happy family. i am positive my current husband is willing to adopt my son.
I guess my question/s would be what are my next steps and is it up to a judge whether this is possible?
