My nightmare started when my ex-boyfriend broke into my house after I broke up with him. He did not steal anything. I filed a police report but nothing came of it. It wasn't long until I realized what he had done. My ex-boyfriend is very computer literate and broke into my house to install a keyboard tracker. This gave him access into all my e-mail accounts including my work e-mail address book. I was made aware of this when my boss approached me with a very disturbing e-mail that I did NOT send. This trash was also sent out to my co-workers and my family as well!! I wiped the drive on my home computer and re-installed the operating system and changed my passwords. I am filled with embarrassment and anger! Since the e-mail "originated" from MY account, I cannot prove that it was him. I know for a fact that he is the guilty party because of some of the private things that he wrote in the e-mails.

What can I do to stop this man and make him leave me alone? I spoke to my local police department about a restraining order but was informed that there was no grounds for one since he has not "threaten" me. I FEEL threatened! Doesn't that account for anything? Who is being protected here??!!

I have been there myself...could find no one to help me.
I joined a poetry website in 1999. I was very happy there.
In 2002, I became friends with someone I will call "Mr. X"
Mr. X and I becane quick friends. We had a lot in common.
We started talking on line and eventaully on the telephone.
And we were friends until 2005. Well, he confided in me that he was manic depressive and bi-polar. I was not aware of his behavior when we first met, but people warned me.
I soon became aware of things he was doing...harassing other people...prank phone calls.
He has disks and disks and disks of his escapades. He has told me this. He is also sent other members of the poetry group child pornorgrphy. I ended contact with him April 2005...and eventually went off line all together because I was getting harassing e-mails, and comments on my poetry sent via the poetry site. I tried to get help from our police department...but they said I'd have to get a lawyer. He had posted poems that had my name on them that I did not write with him when he said I had. and has used my picture to do things with with out asking. the police said when you put your picture on the internet even if it is copywrited it is like handing over your immage to the world...and there is nothing they can do...I had a stack of emails this guy has sent...he has added me to mailing lists, dating services on line....I have had to change my email address so many times it isn't funny. Is there anyway his computer could be searched and all this be found?I do have his ISP number, home address and phone number. Thank goodness he lives 1000 miles away from me or I think one of us would end up dead... thanks for your time!

harassing email

I've been there, believe me the police do nothing. My ex b/f also broke into my house. Used my comp. and also used my credit cards to sign up for a spoof tel website. He used this site to call himself via a computer inputing my phone number to make it appear as if I was doing the calling. He linked the account to an email address that he printed out and then left an address page of hidden at my house. He called the police, filed numerous false police reports, they did a full on investigation took my computer, bank statements, (because he told them to) he knew the charges on my credit cards would implicate me. And they did. I cannot prove he did it. The Long beach CA Police are so gullible they actually believed him. the detective who is a friend of his, a pervert himself, kept harassing me. He had my computer and still insisted I was sending this psycho ex email. The prosecutor was so stupid she actually believed them both. But wait there's more, this psycho ex, wasn't happy with the search and humilation they caused me at work, he then called child services on himself, made up some phoney claims that he was molesting his own kids, knowing his kids would never rat him out, they wrote up a formal letter to this loser that the alligations were "unfounded" and stopped all investigations of him, boy what a way for child molesters to get away with it... keep reporting yourself, until they start ignoring the complaints. anyway... long story short, I get arrested because this psycho sends himself email and runs to the detective and court claiming I sent him more email! With no proof whatsoever, they arrested me. spent 2 days in jail and $100,000 bail. 2 weeks later he writes himself another email, another arrest no proof, $250,000 bail! $30,000 later I cannot fight it any longer. there is something so wrong with the prosecutors office in Long Beach CA. and something so corrupt with the LBPD.
I managed to hire 2 of the most incompetent atty's in the state. neither could figure out how to challenge the quality of evidence. Neither would ask to see the IP addresses of these emails I supposedly sent to this creep..... he sent them to himself. I was told if i didn't cop a plea I would spend 4 years in Jail ... for something I didn't even do!
