right now im pregnant and the father and i are not together we have already tried to talk about whats going to happen when the child is born and he's asking for alot of time with the child and i just dont agree. so we both decided that its best to go to court. i heard from a friend that i can have the child for the first year and he can have visitations then after that he can have over nights because he's never been around a child that age and it scares me to think he would have the child that small byhimself and after that year i want it to be that he gets the child every other weekend and i was wondering can he get more time than that?????

He will have rights as a father and you will not get to determine the amount of time he will have, the court does. I know lots of men that have overnights with infants. Generally the dad does not get overnights immediately but thee is nothing written in stone the baby has to be a year either. Why are you scared he gets time with the baby? He was good enough to get pregnant by.

i understand the court does decide the amount of time i was just saying thats what i would like it to be and thats why we are going to court so its fair to him as well. im not scared about him getting time its just him having the baby the first year alone overnight he has admitted to me that he doesnt even know how he can do it but i do want him to have time its just hard for me to think about the over nights that first year and i was just curious about how that goes about before the baby is born because im getting different responses
