i live in Greenwood,S.C.,i was wanting to know if one parent has more custody rights than the other?,my son is not married to the babies mother,he has been granted temperary custody by DSS.

Normally an unmarried mom has custody by default, and dad has to prove paternity and file for rights.

Has dad done any of this?

If paternity was established, then dad;s rights are the same as moms, usually. Not being married has little to do with it. If mom lost custody from DSS then it makes sense to give custody to Dad. Generally the other parent has rights over other family members.

we have not had a chance to do this, but fathers name is on the birth certificate

Then he acknowledged paternity and he's the legal father. I take it DSS is child protective services. Is there a case plan Mom has to follow to get the child back? It's good they placed the child with Dad.

father with baby
