I am in the middle of a custody battle. My ex's attorney is having me compelled to have my ssi disability records released. The SSA told me that much of this information is confidential and even I am not allowed access to it. My question is what information will ssa consider confidential and what not? Will it be a summary with my diagnosis which is fine with me, or will it include private information which I told the psychiatrist and letters which other people sent to ssa on my behalf which also contains personal information which is irrelevant to the case.

It depends on what exactly is contained in the subpoena. Bear in mind that SSA may not be able to withhold certain information no matter what their own policy dictates.

Do you have an attorney?

Thanks and yes, I do have counsel. This is an ongoing battle and the only thing the opposing counsel has is that I am on disability due to anxiety/depression. On a side note a custody suit was only filed after I filed a child support case against him for arrears and sporadic payments.
My daughter's GAL has already said that my child is in a good loving home and is a wonderful well adjusted child. Her report is going full force in our favour.
Thanks again.
