I have a question regarding a Court Order in NJ involving Custody/Visitation of a minor child. I currently live in Florida and my ex lives in NJ. We are bound by a court order out of NJ and I believe I may be free of it as of June 8th but am unsure that is exactly what it means.

Under Jurisdication it states : The parties agree that NJ will retain jurisdiction over this matter for three years from the date of the entry of the Order herein (i.e., 156 weeks) at which time thereafter jurisdiction over custody/visitation shall revert to Florida. Any financial issues relating to the child, however, shall remain within the jurisdiction of NJ by agreement of the parties (UIFSA may be applicable).

I am not trying to keep my son from his father but there are things within the court order that I don't agree with (i.e. I pay for all flights for child to visit father) . The questions I have is what is date of entry? Would that be the day we signed the order? Must I send him for a month as in the original court order if my son prefers now that he is 16 and to cool to hang out with his parents that he only spend 2 weeks with his father?

The NJ court order is binding until jurisdiction reverts to Florida, and there is a new order from a Florida court. The custody order doesn't "expire" but you are allowed to transfer jurisdiction to Florida 3 years from the date the judge signed the order.

You must comply with the terms of the NJ order until you have it changed in Florida. Your son has to spend the month with his dad.

You may not think it's fair that you have to pay for transportation, but since you created the distance, most people think it's very fair.
