I have a son from a previous marriage (age 9) and a new son (2 weeks old) from my current marriage. My husband is Jewish and I just converted a month or so ago. My oldest son from the previous marriage is interested in converting too (his father is only in contact with him via telephone speratically) and even asked his dad on the phone if he could convert. His dad told him yes on the phone, but I think I need something in writing from his father in order for it to be legal? I don't see anything in our court paperwork (I have physical custody of our son) about religion, but I want to know what our rights are before we progress with his Hewbrew studies? What are the legal perameters in such a matter?
