I have a confidentiality with a previous employer and i am wondering if this should keep me form reporting them for illegally importing and exporting very expensive electronic equipment, tax evasion and software piracy.

A confidentiality agreement cannot cover crimes; you are free to report crimes. In fact, if you do not report the crimes, you may be considered an accessory or co-conspirator.
