Hi everyone....

I'm having an issue with a local retailer regarding a door...this door will cost 2 grand to replace so I'm hoping that someone can confirm what I think is correct.

The building supplies company I purchased the door from is refusing to honor the manufacturers warranty because the door was stock from another building supplies company that it had bought out. The 'bought out' company did not go bankrupt, it was a case of one company purchasing another.

In this case, shouldn't the buying company be liable for the liabilities (in this case warranty) of the company it bought out? I've tried finding an example in the provincial statutes and in a few legal texts but have been unsuccessful so far. Can someone direct me to a case, text, or other example where I could obtain this info? Thanks for all your help :)
