Hello. I had a sewer line backup that cost $3000 to repair. The sewer line is shared by three townhomes on the rear of my property. The plumber said that all repairs should be shared by all four homeowners. I'm looking for the RCW or WAC that states common sewers are the responsibility of all homes that use the line. The property is located in Seattle. Thanks!

Did the other homes have backups?

I suggest you start by asking for clarification or information from any of several elected city officials.

You might also contact the city building or water/sewer departments for further guidance and/or information.

    Good luck.

None of the townhomes had backups as my crawl space is the lowest lying area up the sewer line.

Ask any plumber, your low lying land might be the problem, it often is.
