First off let me start off by saying I went to the hospital last year for early labor with my daughter. My Husbands insurance had not yet kicked in, so we ended up leaving the hospital with 2 bills that equaled around $20,000. They were sent to collections and we pay on them on time each month.
We are now currently trying to get a loan to buy a house so I pulled up our Credit Reports. Those 2 Hospital bills are only under my Husbands report and not mine. Since we were going to get the loan under my husbands name I then called my Account Manger at the Collection place. I then proceeded to ask her if there was anyway to get MY bill switched under my name and my credit report.
The lady then told me that there was a law that states, " A Husband is responsible for his Wife's bills" I find this ridiculous and I believe she is lying to me. I have searched and searched and I cannot find anything close to saying anything like this. So just to clarify this was my bill, I received care, I signed all the papers at the hospital. So how can they charge my Husband for it? I do not understand? Someone please help!!
