Our current visitation agreement says every third weekend during the school year, and 6 weeks a summer (2 weeks each month). The school year schedule was because they live in Fargo and I live in Minneapolis. It was to maintain stability and consistency so we didn't hinder their education. We have joint legal custody. My ex-husband asked me about homeschooling the children. I told him I was ok with trying it as long as they were put in extra circular activities, make the school curriculum available to me, and kept me up on their progress.
I was wondering, since they are being home schooled, my ex and his wife have no special training for homeschooling (so I wouldn't either), and my ex is a firefighter so my children are left with his wife for 24 hour periods of time; would a court change our visitation schedule if I petitioned for a different schedule? My daughter actually brought it up, she wondered why she couldn't spend 2 weeks at her dad's and two weeks with me, alternating, since school isn't the issue.
