Child Support While Separated

My now ex-husband had moved out of the house in January 2008. We never filed for a formal separation. We did the divorce paperwork on our own and it was final in November 2008. We have two children. Would I be able to go and ask for back child support for the time we were separated? I know, it's pretty stupid of me to be asking this AFTER the divorce is final, but it's been bothering me so I thought I'd ask. Thank you.

I suppose you could but why didnt you ask for it when you divorced? Are you entitled to child support? If he makes more than you and you do not have 50/50 custody then I suppose you can ask for it, be advised though this could trigger a custody battle.

Thank you for your advice. I didn't ask for it because frankly I was too stupid and nice at the time. Now that he's got a girlfriend he's starting to make things difficult for me, so I've decided to not be nice anymore.
