My son is about to turn twelve years old. We live in the state of Texas, and I was told several years ago that in this state, when a child reaches the age of twelve, they are entitled to make more decisions regarding which parent they choose to spend time with. In other words, instead of having to be with a particular parent on a holiday because it is that parent's turn, the child can choose for him/herself which parent they want to spend that holiday with.
Is this true? If so, is there a reference I can go to and use in my son's behalf. As he nears the age of twelve, he is anxious to make more of his own decisions regarding visitation and I will probably need a reference in his defense.
