Child Abandonment

I am seperating from my wife and am planning to pay for expenses for her and my children, help with bills, basically continue to be a hands on dad but I was told I need to be careful of being accused of abandonment. How do I avoid this?

Seperating from your wife does not mean you are abandoning her. If you take off out of state and provide no support at all for the kids, that might eventually be considered abandonment.

Also you do not really need to pay anything unless the courts tell you to but obviously its a good idea to help her out with bills. You also do not have to move out of the house until the courts tell you to.

Until the courts tell you otherwise both of you have full rights to the kids.
