Curious what action to take - or if I have a leg to stand on to stop collection calls. I have been running 28 days behind on my car payment for the last several months -- following a heart attack. I pay before the 30 day mark every month and sincerely want the car, want to pay, want to be on time, and plan to get 100% on time very soon -- since I'm back to work now. I'm frustrated however, because over the last few months I've been receiving calls at least once a day and as many as 3-4 times a day every day beginning on day 5 after my current payment is due. Now my "assigned" collection person says that he's getting flack from his superiors because he's been too lenient with me.

Can they do that? Mess with you like that? I've never had another creditor pursue a debt that's so close to being on time before. Is this legal? Any advice on how to get the calls to stop?
