car damaged- not insured

my car was involved in an accident not covered by insurance(the driver was excluded from my policy). im still paying car payment through the bank and paying monthly inurance on a car that is totalled.should i let the bank know the car was totalled,so i can stop paying insurance? ive heard if i let them know they may ask for complete payment due to loss of their assets.
