I bought a car, and am now trying to get the title exchanged and registered. I sent teh title and a bill of sale to the person who sold me the car and they signed it. But they recently got married, so the bill of sale was signed their soon to be new last name while the title was signed their old last name.

Now onto the question, I was told I had permission to forge the signature.

So is there any legal way to do that, I have time limitations on getting the car registered and it would be past the due date to do so if I were to send it off again. And i have no access to a fax machine.

I looked it up and you can apparently sign it with a "directed by" next to it. Not sure how that works, or if it would hold up at the tax office. Namingly would they accept that?

Also, I do have physical proof via facebook stating I could sign it myself. Should I have them send me an email instead?

If I were you, I wouldn't forge anyone's name (especially a stranger's).
FaceBook proof and emails are NOT legal proof.
The time limit may cost you a few more dollars, but it would never cost you prison time, probation, or fines.
Be smart, don't be in a hurry.
Get it fixed or corrected the right way.
Talk to the people at DMV and see what they advise.
