Can they seize car and furniture?

Collection agencies, like RJM are after me for a 1994 debt in California I moved back to Ohio in 1994. My ex husband ran these debts up on a joint account. I am 63 and live on a social seurity check as only source of income. Can they they take my 1999 car and furniture, none were bought with the credit cards in the debt. He wont pay and i cannot. I need my car to get to doctors and and buy food and medicine. I rent an apartment and other than my belongings, furniture and car I own nothing else. I have no bank accounts.

I'm not an attorney, but it sounds like these are all unsecured debts. Check out what the statute of limitations is in your state for unsecured credit card debts. Are there judgments against you? If there are no judgments and you have not reaffirmed the debt they probably are uncollectible. But that won't stop the collection agencies from calling you.
