My father's house is in his name, my name and my brother's name. It has been in all of our names since he purchased it. The house is paid for. He has owned it for 7 years. He now has Alzheimer's and may have to go into a nursing home. He receives a pension and social security, but that won't be enough to cover the cost of the nursing home. Can the state or the nursing home take the house to make up the difference? Can they force us to sell it?
Thanks!!

The state most likely won't take dad's home.

But, social insecurity is the one you need to worry about.

They won't take the home, but they also won't allow the home to be sold until dad has expired. Let's hope that doesn't happen for many years to come.

I suggest you discuss your specific concerns with medicrap, social insecurity, or a local lawyer. The initial consultation with a lawyer is often provided free of charge!!!
