I have A LOT of money due from various credit card companies. All were unsecured. I cannot pay the as my business went under. it has been 6 months since I paid any bills. The collections agencies are beginning to send me (not my husband) registered mail threatening legal action. I live in California. Can they go after my husband? I have no job, no bank account. Everything, except our home, is in his name. I recently signed a quit claim deed for our home to protect us.
Can my husband be sured on an unsecured loan?
Can the credit card/collections agents attach a judgment to his accounts or our home?
What can I expect?
What options do I have if sued?
What type of lawyer should I consult to get info?

SOMEONE PLEASE...ANY ADVICE KNOWLEDGE WOULD BE APPRECIATED!

GENERALLY, since California is a community property state, your spouse can be held liable.

In addition to what seniorjudge said, once the creditors obtain a judgment against you, the can move to have the house put back in your name, as the transfer was without consideration, and only an attempt to hinder your creditors. In California, a judgment creditor can also get a court order to garnish the wages of your husband.
