Can I collect my dues?

I just turned 17 and a half and am currently attending university. My father has not paid a red cent for my welfare for the entire course of my childhood. Can he be held to pay as he neglected to pay child support? Technically I am practically a legal adult so am I still able to collect the money he owes or should I wait until I'm 18 to actually take legal action?

Are you outside the US? If so nobody here can likely help you but Child support is generally owed to the custodial parent, not the child, and only if there is a child support order in place.
